the centre saw Saunders power his way into the side of 525
Wesley Starmer. 72 Gavin Bond was the winner ahead of
Haresign and Girling. The Destruction Derby event closed
proceedings for the Bangers and despite it taking a while to thin
out the remaining cars, the hits were big when they came. The
pick of the shots were two big follow-ins with 515 Gareth Flatters
taking 639 Paul Vines into the wall hard before Lack did the same
to Flatters shortly afterwards. Saunders looked to be in a strong
position as he blew up 791 Nicky Young but Saunders then got
caught in a sandwich between Lown and Starmer and with none
of the cars able to go any further, Starmer was declared the
winner as the last car to go into the heap.
The TSR Bangers had their biggest field of 2008 so far where 681
Jamie Pindar had a bit of good luck in his victory of the opening
heat because 399 Richard Knibbs went past him but was then spun
out by a backmarking car handing him the lead back. 400 Roland
Bullock took the early lead in the second heat but car troubles
allowed 390 David Gibson to come through and take the win away
from him before a skilful move from 147 Paul Bailey saw him spin
out long-time leader 634 Michael Walls to win the Consolation
race. Walls also led the very rapid Final for a considerable distance
until he was taken out by a lunging tackle from 175 Lee Ellis which
handed control of the race to 447 Sam Reynolds. Reynolds then
went on to pull out a considerable gap ahead of the rest of the
field and his margin at the end of the race was significant with
Gibson taking second place and 644 Luke Etheridge completing the
top three places. The Allcomers race started out as a fast affair
but then broke out into a battle field in the closing stages. Much
of the problems were started when 758 Ben Moore and 691 John
Wilkinson both span out whilst battling each other for the lead
sparking many of the chasing pack to crash into their stricken cars.
The resulting Chicane on the track caused plenty of difficulties for
the other drivers who then crashed into the wall if they tried to
