60 Shane Stevenson delivers a cracking hit
on 79 Ricky Twell
SHINNY SHINES

Stock Car and Banger racing action returned to the Norfolk
Arena on Sunday afternoon when another excellent gathering
of 48 TSR Bangers and 54 Two Litre Bangers put on a first
class mixture of racing and wrecking whilst the Rebels formula
turned out a best ever field of 39 cars at Kings Lynn. The 2
Litre Bangers were the show-stoppers of the day with drivers
arriving from as far South as the Essex bank of the Thames and
as far North as Doncaster and Sheffield and although many
drivers delivered some cracking hits, the best individual
performance of the day came from Peterborough’s 400 Kevin
Shinn.
Focusing firstly on the 2 Litre Bangers, the afternoon started
with a bang for 185 Ben Oliver when he was comprehensively
destroyed in the first race by big shots from both 564 Mark
Cooper and then Jason Chilton. This seemed to set the tone
for the afternoon with the second race seeing a similar
situation when 389 Charlie Garrod was left with a much
shortened Ford Scorpio courtesy of big hits from 844 Tom
Haggerty and 45 Rob Hughes. Hughes then became the victim
of Kevin Shinn’s first major crash of the afternoon although
this was far from the end of his display as he went on to
deliver a massive hit to 90 Simon Chapman later in the same
event. The two races so far had been won by 741 Luke Parfitt
and 788 Dan Burton and attentions now turned to the Final
where the East Anglians took on the drivers from the North.
Shinny firstly dealt with 70 Anthony Long by pushing him into
a parked car although the plucky youngster managed to
continue in the race and required further attacks from 191
Shaun McMillan and a second battering from Shinny before he
was rendered immobile. The remaining big hits came from 36
Brett Copestake who piled 149 Wayne Bailey into the wall
allowing Shinny to deliver another monster shot to Copestake
whilst McMillan pulled off another wicked hit on the car of 85
James Ellis leaving the latter with a fine wreck to take home.
639 Paul Vines kept clear of trouble and led the race from start
