WIERD WEATHER & WACKY RACES
meeting was a massive head-on between Flatters and 151 Scott
Cawthorne but this put both of them out of the running and left
Keith Saunders to emerge as the last car running.

In the TSR Bangers, the wacky action started off with a race for
teams of two drivers with their cars chained together nose to tail.
This provided some spectacular incidents with 33 Simon Reed
getting pushed hard into the wall by race partner 410 Darren Barry
wiith assistance from behind from 100 Martin Broomfield.

In the middle of the sandwich, Barry’s car flipped onto its side
and later in the race there was another rollover for 77 Russell
Gill. Broomfield and 96 Amber Harbord emerged as the winning
team for this event. In the normal races, 214 Sam Gowler led the
first heat of the day for a considerable distance until he tangled
with 411 Daniel Pegg leaving 137 Jay Barrett to come through and
take the victory. The second heat was a relatively straightforward
drive for 452 Geoff Smart to win before a hectic consolation race
saw just six drivers make it to the finish. 219 Adam Godfrey was
the first across the line but was penalised for race tactics deemed
to be too aggressive for this particular class of racing and the win
was awarded to 97 James Maddison. The Final for the TSR Bangers
was all about a pile up in the first bend which continually sucked
in drivers throughout the course of the race changing the positions
frequently. Both Gowler and 346 Dean Dale appeared to have a
good chance of finishing with a trophy until they both got involved
in the pile up and the eventual winner was 238 Graham Garrod who
managed to keep clear of trouble. 321 Andy Newton was second
and 77 Russell Gill came home third.

The destruction derby for these cars was a battle of Bourne with
939 Steve Lewis surviving to be the last car running after seeing
off local rival 393 Pete Annells with a couple of big hits.
The TSR Banger and caravan race saw most of the action come very quickly with Russell Gill
flattening the caravan of 601 Chris Medler before a traffic jam-style shunt saw 100 Martin
Broomfield run through the back of 277 Jimmy Starmer’s caravan with Godfrey and then 404
