BIG ENTRY FROM BANGER
OPENER
The opening fixture of the 2008 Banger season at the Norfolk
Arena was greeted by tremendous drivers support with 98 cars
turning out for battle, 45 of them in the opening qualifying
round for the 2008 Banger Shale World Championship for 2 Litre
Bangers and 53 racing for the Unlimited Banger East Anglian
Championship. The 1300 Stock Cars were also in action. The
East Anglian Championship went to 99 Ritchie Ahern whilst
the 2 litre Banger Final was won by 349 Michael Allard but
performance of the night came in the 1300 Stock Cars where
33 Warren Porter won all four races including the 2007 novices
Championship.

general, the entry of cars was very impressive and also included
a Ford Mustang for Stamford teenager 611 Joe Geeves, a Rover
P5B for 564 Mark Cooper, a Wolseley 6/110 for 384 John Golden,
a pair of Granada Limousines for 282 Bobby Daniels and 791 Nicky
Young and a Granada Hearse from 292 Keith Saunders.
The Unlimited Bangers raced over 2 heats with half of the cars
in each race. The major action in the first event was 168 Calvyn
Girling getting caught up behind Oliver’s huge Galaxie which left
him prone to taking a massive amount of damage when 225 Nick
Bull buried the huge Lincoln Town Car of 206 Phil Milner into the
back of him. Ahern was the winner of this race whilst the second
heat saw the Mr Men well involved with Bobby Daniels (aka Mr
