HEAVY ACTION AT FIRST ICEBREAKER This advantage was never challenged by any other team in the first round of heats where other highlights included a rollover in the third race for 443 Justin Warren in which the old Colt was destroyed by a big hit from Jack Garrod. The second round of heats saw Yorkshire team the Common Crushers on fine form with both 844 Tom Haggerty and 70 Anthony Long taking home entertainers trophies. Beevors Allstars had another good round and stayed as joint leaders of the competition with the Heacham Mafia who started to close the gap with a win for 673 Darren Fendley supplementing a win for 345 Richard Lown in the earlier round to bring the Mafia up to speed. The second round of heats also saw the biggest crash of the day with 236 Everett from the Mad Mob landing a massive hit on 579 Beecham to fold the old Avenger up in a spectacular mess although Beecham was perfectly OK once released from the car.
In the last round of heats, a devastating hit from Jason Chilton on Pete Annells backed up by a lively performance from 902 Tony Lowther earned the Predators the verdict on the best overall entertaining team and despite Barry Beevor’s team continuing to score well, a second race victory for Fendley edged the Heacham Mafia clear at the top of the points. This was sealed in the Final when Beevor’s Allstars failed to get a driver to the finish whilst Fendley came home in second place to give the Heacham Mafia the overall victory. Race victory went to 333 James Cooke whilst another top ten finish for 88 Ash Burton allowed their team, The Undertakers, to grab second place ahead of Beevors Allstars who hung in for third place.
